Terms

Archive master

A high-resolution source video kept as an input to future work rather than as a delivery format. One of Inverity's video content types.

Backfill

A one-off run that processes the media already sitting in a location, as opposed to the automatic optimization of new media. Backfills consume volume at full source size.

Connector

The link between Inverity and a platform where your media lives — a CMS or a DAM. See Connectors.

Content detection

The step where Inverity classifies an asset — photo, screenshot, icon, transparent graphic; talking head, screen recording, motion graphic, archive master — before choosing how to compress it. See Content detection.

Content-aware

Optimization that adapts to what the asset actually contains, rather than applying one fixed setting to everything.

DAM

Digital asset management platform. Bynder, Cloudinary, Brandfolder, Acquia DAM, Canto, and Frontify. See DAM connectors.

Engine

One of the optimization methods Inverity can route an asset to. You don't choose engines; Inverity does, per asset. Higher plans unlock more of them.

Foundation

The free plan every new account starts on: 2 GB of volume per month. A permanent free tier, not a trial.

Master

The authoritative original of an asset in a DAM. Inverity never overwrites a master — optimized results are added as new versions. See How write-back works.

Motion graphic

Animation, explainer, or title-sequence video. One of Inverity's video content types.

Profile

A workspace or per-source setting that shifts the balance between file size and fidelity. A profile moves the target of the quality check; it never disables it. See Quality and profiles.

Quality check

The comparison of an optimized result against the original. A result is only written back if it's both smaller and visually equivalent. Not optional, and not configurable.

Skipped — not smaller

The status shown when the optimizer couldn't beat your original at equivalent quality, so your original was kept. A success, not an error. See Results and savings.

Source size

The size of a file before optimization. This is what volume is metered on.

Steady state

How much new media your team adds per month, as distinct from a one-time backfill. The number your plan should be sized on.

Talking head

Interview, webinar, or presenter video — a static background with a small moving region. One of Inverity's video content types.

Volume

The GB of media you process in a billing period, metered from source size. The thing your plan is priced on. See Volume and usage.

Watched location

A folder, collection, content type, or product set that Inverity monitors. New media added there is optimized automatically. See Choose what to optimize.

Workspace

The container that owns your connected sources, profiles, usage meter, plan, and team. Everyone you invite joins the same workspace. See Team and roles.

Write-back

The step where an optimized file replaces or accompanies your original in your platform. See How write-back works.
