What goes in, and what comes out.

Images

Inverity optimizes the common web and design image formats — including JPEG, PNG, WebP, and modern successors — and preserves transparency where the source has it.

The output format is chosen per asset. In most cases the optimized file stays in a format equivalent to the original so that nothing downstream has to change. The key guarantee is the one that matters for your site: the asset keeps working where it already worked, because the optimized file takes the original's place in your platform rather than appearing at a new address. Video

Inverity accepts the common delivery and editing container formats, including MP4 and the formats that need converting for reliable browser playback — MOV, WebM, and MKV among them.

Where a source format doesn't play reliably in browsers, Inverity converts it to MP4, and keeps that converted file even when it isn't smaller. Compatibility is the benefit in that case. See Video optimization.

What Inverity doesn't process

  • Vector formats. SVG is markup, not a raster image; it isn't part of the raster optimization pipeline.
  • Documents. PDFs, Office files, and design source files (PSD, AI, Sketch, Figma exports) are not media assets in this sense and are left alone.
  • Audio-only files. Inverity optimizes video as a whole; standalone audio isn't in scope.
  • Archives. ZIP and similar containers are not opened or inspected.

Anything Inverity doesn't process is simply left untouched in your library. It doesn't error, and it doesn't consume volume.

Check before a large migration

If your library depends on a format not listed here — a specialist camera raw format, a proprietary DAM rendition type, or an unusual container — confirm with support before you plan a rollout around it. Format coverage changes as connectors and engines are added.

Colour and transparency

  • Transparency (alpha) is preserved. A transparent PNG will not come back flattened onto a white background.
  • Colour profiles are preserved, so optimized assets don't shift in appearance against their originals.

Size limits

Very large assets — particularly high-resolution video masters — take considerably longer to process and consume volume in proportion to their source size. If you have unusually large files and want to confirm they'll be handled, ask support with a representative example.
