FAQ

Quick answers to common questions.

Quality and output

Will optimization reduce my image or video quality?

No visible reduction. Inverity checks every result against your original and only keeps the optimized version when it's smaller at equivalent quality. If it can't do that, it keeps your original.

What happens to my original files?

Inverity processes a copy. Depending on your settings it either replaces the original with the optimized version or stores it alongside. DAM masters are kept as new versions, never overwritten. See How write-back works.

Do I need to choose a format or codec?

No. Inverity detects each asset's content type and picks the best method automatically. You can set an overall quality profile if you want to steer it.

Does Inverity resize my images?

No. Optimization changes the encoding, not the dimensions. A 4000px image stays 4000px.

Why were so many of my assets skipped?

Because they were already well optimized. A skip means Inverity couldn't beat your original at equal quality, so it kept your original. A high skip rate is a statement about your library, not a fault. See Results and savings.

Plans and usage

How is my usage measured?

By the total size (in GB) of the media you process each month, from the source file. The number of files doesn't matter. Skipped and duplicate assets don't count. See Volume and usage.

Can I try Inverity for free?

Yes. The Foundation plan is free and includes 2 GB of media per month — it's a permanent free tier, not a trial with a countdown. See Compare plans.

Do you charge per user or per connected source?

Neither. Plans are priced on volume. Invite as many teammates and connect as many sources as you need.

Does unused volume roll over?

No. Volume resets each billing period. See Billing FAQ.

What happens if I hit my limit?

Optimization pauses until the period resets or you upgrade. Nothing is lost and nothing is charged automatically.

Connectors

Which platforms can I connect?

Many content platforms and the major DAMs. See CMS connectors and DAM connectors. Don't see yours? Contact support.

Do I have to connect a platform at all?

No. You can upload files directly and download the optimized results. See Direct upload.

Can I connect more than one source?

Yes. Sources share your monthly volume, and each can have its own quality profile.

Will connecting change how my site works?

No. Inverity writes optimized files back in place, so your existing pages, templates, links, and delivery path are unchanged. You may need to clear a cache to see the new files. See Delivery and caching.

Video

Does Inverity work for video?

Yes. It detects the type of video and optimizes accordingly, and converts incompatible formats to MP4 for reliable playback. See Video optimization.

Why did a video get written back even though it wasn't smaller?

Because it needed converting to MP4 for browser compatibility, and that compatibility is the benefit. This is the one deliberate exception to the "smaller or nothing" rule.

Security and data

How are my connector credentials stored?

Encrypted, and used only to access the assets you point Inverity at. See Tokens and permissions.

Can Inverity delete my assets?

No. There is no code path that deletes media from your platform. See Data and privacy.

What happens if I disconnect?

Optimization stops. Assets already optimized stay optimized in your platform — disconnecting doesn't reverse past work.
