Shopify
Install Inverity as an embedded app in your store.
Shopify connects through an app install from your store admin rather than a pasted token.
Before you start
You need to be the store owner, or a staff account with permission to install apps.
Connect
- In the Inverity dashboard, open Connectors and choose Shopify.
- Enter your store's
.myshopify.comdomain when prompted. - Approve the install in your Shopify admin.
- Back in Inverity, choose the collections or catalogs whose product images you want optimized.
What gets optimized
Product images, in the context of their product. You select collections or catalogs rather than folders, and Inverity handles the images attached to the products inside them.
Product images are usually the highest-traffic images on a store and the ones most often uploaded straight from a supplier at full resolution, so this is typically where the largest savings on a Shopify store are.
Good to know
- Existing products need a run. New product images in a watched collection are optimized automatically; to process the existing catalog, run optimization on the collection.
- Shopify serves images through its own CDN. Changes propagate on Shopify's schedule, not instantly. See Delivery and caching.
- Theme assets aren't product images. Images that live in your theme rather than on products aren't covered by product-scoped optimization.
- Alt text, ordering, and variants are untouched. Inverity replaces the image bytes, not the product data around them.
Disconnecting
Remove the connector in Inverity, then uninstall the Inverity app from your Shopify admin. Optimized images stay optimized.
Troubleshooting
- "App install failed" — confirm you have app install permission on the store.
- Some products were skipped — their images were already well optimized. See Results and savings.
